A man walked into a doctor’s office on 32nd Street near Lexington Avenue on Wed Oct 28th at 1:30pm and stole Vivitrol from an open refrigerator. He was later arrested fro burglary and grand larceny.

Two  gang members of the Latin Kings tried to rob the At&T store at 44th and Lexington Avenue. One person was caught the other not.

Sorry but some people might find this strange but I look for new doctors close to home. There are so many doctors that I really don’t feel I have to run up to the Upper East Side to go to a doctor.

It all started when I went to my primary care doctor for my annual check up and he had run out of flu shots. The normal one. He went through 2000 shots but did not save any for his patients that had been his patients for 20 odd years. I then started to look around and just by chance asked someone that said his doctor in the hood still had flu shots.

Dr Lev Haimoff at Madison Medical Practice  is located at 274 Madison Avenue between 37th and 36th street- He happens to have trained with my doctor that forgot about me with the flu shot. The office front desk,Dorinne, is pleasant, which is not usually the case and the office is clean. I am so happy to find someone so close to home.

Best thing is he has flu shots and will call you and tell you when the H1M1 vaccine comes in. He seems also young and very pleasant.

30 east 38th StAt 30 East 38th the management was able to empty a rent stabilized apartment, renovate it and rent for market rent. This one bedroom apartment on the 4th floor with a southern exposure terrace was rented within days for $3000 a month. Renovation did not have a posted permit.

31 east 38th stAnother brownstone will be changing hands. 31 East 38th street has finally sold for $7.9 million. I think it went on the market at $9 million. We will keep you up on whether it remains a multiple dwelling or a single family. The latter is my guess.

A problem that I had with one of your men…Mr.Matos

I was on my way home on last Thursday night Oct 15th and came out of the main entrance of GC on 42nd street about 10:00pm. It was raining. There was an over sized food truck with all the lights and music blocking the walkway and entrance. It was there so he stayed out of the rain. He also had a lot of garbage surrounding the cart on the sidewalk. Your man Mr Matos was on the street directing taxis to the taxi line.

I asked him if this cart should have been in the middle of the walk way and he went balistic.
He told me if I had a problem to contact the MTA. I tried to explain to him that I did not think the MTA had anything to do with the sidewalk but he would not listen and was really rude.

I do not think you would have sanctioned that scene: to make all the people exiting the door to walk around that cart to cross the street, which is a very difficult place to know where to cross anyway.

Your employee is misinformed and was not doing his job. There were no taxis by the way to direct and maybe he could have changed his focus to help the people crossing the street have an easy clear safe path.

Just my opinion:

Mayor Bloomberg is very proud of his putting#311, this public service, into practice. On Saturday evening Oct 17 at 9:30 pm I was out walking my neighbor’s dog. I saw a SUV park at the pump on my street (NY # DEK-4732 Buick Enclave). He was an orthodox man and I said he was parking at a pump and he told me where to go. I watched from my window if this was a short stay but he was there for 2 hours.

I tried to call #311 and heard all the announcements and pushed my button for English and for a complaint not a noise or heat and sat there listening that there might be increased activity and to please wait. Then after 9 minutes a machine told me to call back tomorrow. Well that does not work for a complaint number that is supposed to be 24 hours. I then called the several numbers I have for the 17th precinct and as always no one ever picks up a phone.

I was also alerted by #311 announcement that it might take 8 hours for the police to answer a noise complaint. Well if you are living through an agonizing loud party that is a very long time to suffer.

I then called #911 and explained it all, succinctly and she hung up on me after telling me to call #311. How frustrating these quality of life issues have become. Our city misses opportunities to earn money by punishing law offenders, our gov’t personal is not doing their jobs and our politicians are so busy that they never pay attention to their constituents. I would have like Christine Quinn to write me a note instead of walking in a gay march. On another issue I have written to my local govt and political rep’s and have not even received an acknowledgment letter. The only person I received an answer from about my issue was by Mrs Diaz in the Public Advocate’s office.

Since most of my local politicians are up fop reelection all have called for donations as I have given previously and I will not give to anyone that can not answer an issue by a contributor and constituent. I don’t know how we are going to keep these guys working at the jobs they are elected to do and honest?

One thing I was quite happy about this week that Senator Liz Krueger came out to get Monserrat out of the Senate. That took courage and she seems to be the only senator to go on the record.

I do not know about you but the Sunday New York Times to me is sacred. I am even willing to pay $5.00 for it which I think is a ridiculous amount of money for a newspaper. I live in a neighborhood that does not have many small newspaper stands in it especially during the weekend. I am forced to go to Grand Central Station where the Hudson Group operates all the stands. They have mostly Indian help that has never uttered a gracious or welcoming word to me or to anyone else I am sure. Today I bought the Sunday NYT and asked if it was complete and after them saying yes, I headed to Bryant Park only to discover I was missing 4 sections: Business, Real Estate, Metropolitan and Automobiles. On my way home I went back to them and sure enough all the papers were missing all 4 sections. I spoke to the manager Mr Nabi and showed him as he was not very believing or accommodating and he said they are no longer delivered in separate sections but delivered bundled with complete papers. He got 600 last night and 600 today and I was the only one to complain. I mentioned that maybe most of those people were long gone on a train or far from the station to notice and then complain. I demanded my money back which took a little dealing and headed to a Starbucks, which is the only other place that has the Sunday paper and guess what a complete paper. They probably receive 25 papers each day and if you get  there in the afternoon they are usually sold out. This is the third time this has happened at Hudson and I have even written about it in this blog.

Warning check your paper when you buy at the Hudson Group as this is a long standing problem. If you too have had this problem customer service for them is 800 326 7711/800 326 7711 or customerservice@hudsongroup.com. Will get back to you with what they have to say when I complain.

This Monday, Sept 21 I contacted #311 as 38th Street is never swept either manually or by a sweeper truck. A man named Superintend Zacharias called me back but after a long conversation he was not the right person for the block. #311 gave it to the wrong person. He recommended me call Superintend O’Donnell who is in charge of District #6. He explained that because of commercial parking during the day and parking by passenger cars at night that we really aren’t cleaned. He mentioned that because of cutbacks he had no actual people responsible for cleaning  but only machines. He assured me that he would look out for the block but so far nothing has been cleaned up.

I am sorry that we have to rely on the Sanitation Dept to clean up for our landlords. Our landlords on this block are not very diligent and as they rarely are served with summons they don’t have to. They are required to clean 18″ into the street.

If you too are bothered by refuse on the curb his telephone number is 212 868 0286 and email : mn06super@dsny.nyc.gov.

It seems that people got on the roofs of 30 East 38th and the Kitano Hotel  at Park Avenue  and 38th and hung over and spray painted the edge of these two buildings. You can see their work from the street. The buildings between these two buildings could not be  painted as the tops have ornate cornices that they could not get over. What scares me was they were on my building’s roof and could gain entrance to the building through the roof. I did not read anything in the papers and I wonder what the 17th precinct did or is doing about this crime? Please if anybody knows about this please comment on this.

This is the restaurant across the street from the 42nd street entrance of Grand Central Station. The city has given them permission to close off Park Avenue between 42 and 41street for their outdoor cafe. I also think the city said they had to have a public component and put out tables and chairs for people to eat their lunch and not have to pay the restaurant. The time that they do not have to provide this free service is 3:00pm. At the dot of 3:00 and even before many days they eliminate the free chairs. How about if you wanted to have a 4:00 break, you can not. This I guess is to make you buy a drink of food from them in other words they have privatized a city street for the majority of the day and the whole evening for their private gain.Maybe the city should revisit this agreement as this is a nice place for the public and tourists to rest without supporting this restaurant. I stopped going there as the food is mundane and not cheap and they miscalculated a check once and weren’t very apologetic about it.
