It was Saturday around noon and there were no commercial vehicles on the street. Passenger cars can not park till evening. I noticed that a man in the small truck from Riteway Chimney was cleaning out his truck and putting his refuse on the street. I stood across the street for a few moments to see if he had any intentions of leaving his garbage on the street. When he started to close his doors and walk across the street to where he was working, I said quite nicely and asked him if he had any intention of leaving his garbage on the street. He went ballistic and started yelling at me and threatening me to mind my own business. I was writing down his infor nd he was standing over me ready to strike.
I am a pretty feisty person and stood my ground. I also am very concerned as you know if you read this blog with any frequency that I want the neighborhood to stay as clean as possible. I will also complain at www.complaints.com how volatile this guy is besides being a litterer. He did put the garbage back in his truck but only because he knew I meant business.
Riteway Chimney is from Farmingdale, LI and this man said he owned the business. No accreditation from BBB
At 30 East 38th the management was able to empty a rent stabilized apartment, renovate it and rent for market rent. This one bedroom apartment on the 4th floor with a southern exposure terrace was rented within days for $3000 a month. Renovation did not have a posted permit.
Another brownstone will be changing hands. 31 East 38th street has finally sold for $7.9 million. I think it went on the market at $9 million. We will keep you up on whether it remains a multiple dwelling or a single family. The latter is my guess.
